In 1907 Mary Baird became a charter member of the Enterprise Club of 1910-20 a group of very active women who built their own clubhouse. In March 1917 the Enterprise Club was attempting to start a library by requesting discarded books from the Seattle Public Library. They managed the library until the formation of the Des Moines Library League. W. J.
